Daihatsu Motor Co., the minicar unit of Toyota Motor Corp., is recalling more than a half-million vehicles in Japan because of faulty rear indicator lamps.
The orange-tinted lamps can fade with prolonged exposure to strong sun, making the rear lamplight appear white instead of orange, the company said in a statement today.
The recall affects 435,423 units of Daihatsu's Move five-door hatchback made between 1995 and 2000. Also called back are 145,769 units of the Daihatsu Mira manufactured from 1998 to 2000. Both models are Japan-market minicars with 0.66-liter engines.
