CMTBA has published the statistics of machine tool industry in the first quarter 2010 on 12th May. The report shows that the January-March machine tool industry total industrial output value totaled 103.74 billion yuan, up 42.1% YOY; Product sales value totaled 101.06 billion yuan, up 42.8% YOY; the ratio of sales to gross output value has reached 97.4%, up 0.4% YOY.
For import and export in the first quarter of this year, total imports of machine tool products into China recorded 28.5% growth YOY, totaled 2.93 billion US dollars, with 1.74 billion US dollars for the import of metalworking machine tool, up 14.9% YOY. The total export over the same period recorded 1.38 billion US dollars, up 31.1% YOY, in which the export of metalworking machine tool totaled 0.39 billion US dollars, up 13% YOY.
According to the figures, CMTBA pointed out that the machine tool industry has extended the stable uprising trend from the forth quarter 2009 in the first quarter 2010. Various indexes have been closed to or exceeded the level at the same period of time in 2008 before finical crisis. The market in this first quarter is very hot and the demand for CNC machine tools is outstandingly high which leads to a drastic increase to the orders in hand for machine tool builders. At the mean time, there are signs to show that the global market is revitalizing, and because of the low base at the same period of time last year, the report is showing a significant year-on-year growth in export of machine tool products.
CMTBA also emphasized that with the benefit from the turn-around in the global economy environment, a positive growth is recorded in the export of machine tool industry for the first quarter of the year. However, the export price of metalworking machine tool is still on a falling trend, which is not favorable for the restructuring of export product for the industry. From the export market point of view, the change in export destination is relatively big and the Asian market is taking up the primary position gradually.
