Rittal Electro-Mechanical Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, established in 2004, has developed as one of the most important suppliers of professional control boxes and housings in China and Asia district. Not only providing corresponding solutions to wind power, rail transportation, electricity or mining industries, machine tools industry is also an emphasized target market for Rittal. Mr. Zhang Yan-ming, segment manager of Rittal, has conducted an interview with AdsaleCMJ.com about the acceptance of their machine tools in the market.

CMJ：As a medium focusing on metal processing industry, we pay close attention to Rittal’s performance in the machine tools industry. According to our understandings, Rittal’s products have already gained a notable market share. Would you do a brief elaboration about the situation?
Zhang：In the machine tools industry, Rittal’s main stretatgy is still focusing on high-end products and specializing in precisive, sophisticated and large equipment. Currently, in China, the import of high-end machine tools is still having a relatively strong performance. Plus the products developed by local enterprises in China, about 1/4 of the total amount of CNC machine tools are high-end equipments. If we can provide quality bundled solutions for these equipments, we can open the door to an undoutedly promising market.
Next year, our complete solutions to machine tools industry will take a further step forward which will make a big change to the impressions on us. We are very optimistic to the development potential of such domain. Although the current relative volume of business of machine tools industry is less than half of wind power industry, we expect that the volume of business of Rittal in these 2 fields will acquire similar size in the future. Such a huge room for improvement are highly anticipated.
CMJ：We share the same anticipation, too, especially for now, after 5 years of development, Rittal’s business expansion are with added strength.
Zhang：This is true. Through this 5 years of development in China, our factory in Shanghai has acquired the ability to supply non-standard products. This strengthen our capability to continuously intensify our effort on developing new products and launching products that poccess the quality of primacy as well as servicability that suit the specific requirements of China market.
It means that in the past our clients may have the impression that we solely provide standard product, but now, with such modernized factory, we can promote our capability to supply diversified products on top of the platform of standard products. In other words, we can provide various differentiated application configuration to our clients – which I believe there are no other manufacturer can compete with Rittal in terms of expertise and comprehensiveness .
CMJ：We are aware that Rittal is always in a leading position and keep on introducing new concept and technology. Recently in Rittal’s Shanghai factory, a new fully automatic production line has gone into operation, which is to be known as the very first production line with a salient attribute of environmental-friendliness. It seems to be a very good reponse to the global concern from to the carbon emissions problem recently.
Zhang：Our concern to enviormental protection is dependable and consistent, and keep improving all the time. In Europe, the concept about enviormental protection is not only focusing on the product itself, but also the process of production has to be enviormental-friendly. In China, as the state’s mission of energy-saving and emission-reduction become clear and definite, the progress towards such direction will definitely be speeded up. We hope we can introduce more production line of the kind in China’s factory in the future in order to contribute to the emission-reduction programem.
CMJ：So, is there any pressure caused to the overall production cost for introducing such a high standard production line?
Zhang：None. We can say that to make the whole prodution process environmental friendly means a fully-integration of production resources and process optimization that can simplified and modernised the process of production. By doing so, energy can be saved while no extra production cost will be generated. For example, in the past all surface processing is phosphating when the pre-processing stage cannot be done under room temperature and thus it was gas-consuming and energy-consuming and cause a lot of problem. Now, under redevelopment and renovation of the process of production, the old technology is being replaced and even eliminated.
