The EMO MILANO 2009 will be staged from October 5 to 10 in Milan, Italy.
According the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries (CECIMO), the organizer of EMO MILANO, European companies bagged 53% less machine tools orders in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. Full-year orders are expected to shrink by more than 30%.
Despite the slack demand in the current machine tools market, enterprises are eager to showcase their latest development to the industry.
Millutensil
Italy's Millutensil, which specializes in die & mold spotting presses, equipment for presses and conveyor systems, will exhibit a press type BV26ER used for splitting, adjusting, maintenance and try-out operations on dies and moulds (thermoplastics, die casting, thermosetting, rubber and blanking).
The special devices allow the injection of special waxes, at low pressure, into the mold and mold testing by using a patented energy accumulator (single shot).
SMW-Autoblok
The new TE has 6 equalizing jaws, with 12 points of contact on the part to be clamped. | SMW-Autoblok, workholding solution supplier, has developed the new TE model with a 2 + 2 + 2 equalizing mechanism. The new TE has 6 equalizing jaws, with 12 points of contact on the part to be clamped. It offers high centrifugal force compensation even at high speed. One of its advantages is the compact body design, despite its complex mechanism of master jaws and levers. The TE power chuck is applied in flanges and rings for the aerospace industry; components for wind power generators, such as bearings, slewing rings and planetary gear boxes.
Imas Group
Imas Group, a specialist in rotary table transfer machines for medium to high production volumes of metal components up to 300 mm size, will exhibit its two product families Imastransfer and Imasflex.
Imastransfer and Imasflex focus on maximizing the productivity or allowing full flexibility and re-configurability for completely different parts, by means of a common components platform designed with modular and parametric criteria. All the main assemblies, rotary table, satellites, modules and heads, can be freely composed to create an original configuration, matching at best the specific needs but based on standard parts, as a guarantee of reliability and serviceability.
Waterjet Corporation
Waterjet Corporation will show its latest range of high-tech waterjet cutting machines at the EMO - the SUPREMA® DX 510 (net cutting area 1.830 x 3.350mm with patented I.T.C.™ cutting compensation system) and the EVOLUTION X5® 612 (2.000 x 4.000 mm) with patented infinite 5-axis head rotation system.
Designed with ball screw movement for all axes and a structurally separate watertank, these machines guarantee the precision and accuracy required to produce high level mechanical parts.
Waterjet machines have the benefit of providing green technology for industries like aeronautics and precision mechanics, by preventing structural changes caused by heat and toxic emissions due to thermal cuts.
CAFRO
Precision grinding specialist CAFRO will display its XZ Diamond wheels in resin bond (till Ø 915 mm ) for coated rollers or components of big dimensions at its booth in the EMO.
The company, which produces Diamond and CBN wheels and tools in resin, metal, hybrid, vitrified and electroplated bond, wheel diameter range from Ø 0,5 to 915 mm, will also demonstrate its hybrid bond M400 series on the high performance diamond wheels for creep feed grinding of solid carbide mills and drills.
Other exhibits include the SUPERFIN© series for high performance mirror finish Diamod wheels and the new CRV-04 high precision profiling machine for shaping Diamond and CBN wheels in resin, hybrid, metal, and vitrified bond in the range Ø 50 to 500 mm.
Vergnano
F.lli Vergnano, which produces precision cutting and threading tools, milling cutters and hobs, will show taps with two new product families, synchronised tapping and the synchronised tapping attachments, both belonging to the Sincro range.
The Sincro taps features includes specific geometry for high speed machining, power high speed steel, shank with h6 tolerance (with “weldon” flat on request) and short thread length, for deep threading. The company has recently opened sales offices in Germany, France and Korea.
REMA Control
 Leonard LT5 of REMA Control
| REMA Control will showcase its moving column vertical machining centers at the EMO 2009.
The main feature of REMA' product is that all 3 axes are assembled on the column and the table is fix and solid. The Y-axis stroke depends on machine type and is up to 600 mm for Newton, 800 mm for Newton Big and 1000-1200 mm for Leonard. X-axis stroke upon request from min. 1600 mm. Spindle tapers: ISO 40, ISO 50 and HSK 63 with the possibility to work with two spindles by a spindle column.
APS
APS (Automatic Positioning System) is a universal connection between the machine tool, the clamping device and/or the work piece which allows both positioning and clamping in one operation with repeatability accuracy < 0.005 mm (0.0002”).
APS uses compressed air (6 BAR-85 psi) for unlocking, it uses spring force for clamping. No compressed air is required in the locked condition. Attach the clamping pins (A;B;C) on the clamping devices or on the work piece and "it's done". Your set-up time will be reduced by 90 %. APS offers greater flexibility in set-up and an increase in productivity resulting in a short pay-back time.
MCM
Italian MCM, a high precision and high flexibility 4-5-6 axes horizontal machining center manufactuerer, will display its “Clock Tank” which is claimed to be the best solution for the heaviest machining operations.
The "Tank" family' main feature is the X-axis saddle design which provides the highest rigidity of the column and guarantees an overall benefit for all machine performances, with the two guide-ways on two different levels (the conjunction line determines a 29° angle).
The recent expansion of the machine range (iTANK 1300 / 1600 / 1900) guarantees varied flexible solutions, thanks to the wide choice of configurations in terms of strokes, machining volumes, pallet sizes, spindles and to the possibility to assemble different types of heads like horizontal, indexed and tilting heads (with crown-screw or torque motors'drives). The iTANK, like other MCM standard modules, can be configured as a Multitasking 5-axis machine for turning and milling machining operations.
